Access Statement
The Hickman Hill Hotel is a privately owned business with 10 en suite bedrooms plus restaurant & bar. There is one superior en-suite room on the ground floor. This is accessible by wheelchair. The remaining rooms are only accessible by stairs. As we are a grade 2 listed property we are unable to install a disabled platform lift.
Pre-arrival
You can contact us via telephone, fax, e-mail or post. The nearest bus station is Gainsborough Central located approx. 5 minutes walk from the Hotel in Heaton Street.
The nearest train station is Gainsborough Central which is approx 300m from the Hotel. However trains only call at the station on a Saturday. The nearest regular mainline station is on Lea Road which is approximately 1 mile away. Trains are regular.
There are many local taxi firms, which we can provide you with details of or book on your behalf if required.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
There is a private Car Park located around the Hotel free of charge to guests.
The hotel entrance faces on to the garden is on the right hand side of the car park as you enter the property grounds. The car park has 2 levels of which the upper car park is reached by steps. The lower car park facing the garden and pond is on the same level as the hotel entrance and the front door can easily be reached with a wheelchair. The front entrance has no slope or step although there is a slight rise of around 3cm into the bar area. Wheelchairs do not have a problem accessing this area. We offer assistance with luggage if required.
Main Entrance & Reception
The front door leads to Reception through the Bar and the floor is level & carpeted throughout. The Reception is on the Ground Floor, as is the Restaurant and Bar There is a slight incline leading down into the restaurant.
Public Areas
Our corridors are well lit and carpeted. The Restaurant and Bar are accessible on one level and also carpeted. There is one door leading into the Restaurant from the Bar. There are WC’s on the ground floor near the bar area and also to the rear of the restaurant; neither have steps. The fire alarm system is an electronic sounder and led beacon. Assistance will be given if evacuation is necessary.
Restaurant/Dining Room, Bar and& Lounge
Moveable seating throughout. All chairs are without arms in the restaurant. Background Music in the Bar. Full waiter/waitress service is provided. Well-lit & airy Restaurant and Bar. The lounge is made up of single tub chairs with low level, small coffee tables.
Conference & Meeting Room, Function & Banqueting Suite
The ‘Hopkins Room’ is situated on the ground floor and can seat up to 8 people. It is fully accessible by wheelchair. Male and Female toilets are situated adjacent to this room. The table and seating is moveable.
We do not have a loop system.
The Old School Room is situated on the ground floor and can seat up to 60 people. It is fully accessible by wheelchair. Male and Female toilets are situated through the dining area adjacent to this room. The table and seating is moveable.
Wi-Fi access is available throughout.
Bedrooms
9 Bedrooms on the first floor are accessible only by stairs.
1 Bedroom is on the ground floor. It has grab rails in the toilet. The shower is in a wet room which is accessible by wheelchair.
The remaining rooms are varied in their make up of Baths and/or Showers
Additional Notes:
As an independent Hotel, we are committed to providing a high level of customer service. Whilst the physical limitations of the existing building may impose some constraints on what the Hickman Hill Hotel are able to do, we fully intend to comply with current regulations and good practice. We have tried to make the 2 ground floor rooms as wheelchair accessible as possible.
As a grade II listed building we are unable to install a lift.
The Hickman Hill Hotel aims to ensure that all employees, guests and others who use or assist in the provision of our services, are treated equally & according to their needs. Staff training in disability awareness is undertaken as part of the on-going staff development programme, in compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
